About Us

Hello, and welcome to BikeSafe.me! I’m Harry Gill, the founder, owner, and operator of this venture. Ever since I was 10 years old, I’ve been passionate about two things: electronics and motorbikes. After a long hiatus, I recently dusted off my helmet and reignited my love for the open road.

During my training to obtain a full motorcycle license here in the UK, I was taught a crucial safety tip: gently press the front brake while engine braking to signal to drivers behind that you’re slowing down. It made perfect sense, but I couldn’t shake a nagging thought—why should such a vital safety action depend solely on a rider’s memory or habit? With today’s technology, surely we could automate this process and enhance safety for everyone on the road.

That’s when the idea for the BrakeBright was born. Fueled by my engineering curiosity, I dove into creating a solution. I designed a custom PCB, sourced components, and soon had a working prototype in my hands. This wasn’t uncharted territory for me; I’ve been tinkering with electronics and microcontrollers for years, crafting devices I use daily and sharing my adventures on my personal blog.

When I shared my prototype with fellow riders and local instructors, their enthusiasm was infectious. They encouraged me to take this project beyond my garage and into the hands of riders everywhere. And so, BikeSafe.me became more than just a personal project—it became a mission.

I genuinely believe that the BrakeBright can be a game-changer for motorcycle safety. By automating a critical signal, we can reduce risks on the road and make every ride more enjoyable.

In the spirit of community and innovation, I plan to make the hardware open-source. My goal is to see this technology adopted widely, improved upon, and used to benefit riders around the world.

I have big ambitions for BikeSafe.me, including launching a Kickstarter campaign when the controller is ready for prime time. But I can’t do it alone. Your interest and support can make all the difference. Please register your interest.

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to learn about my journey. Together, let’s make riding safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
